After the fairly mammoth efforts of April and May, June was mostly spent away from site, giving my body time to recover a bit! Two key things were due to be done during the 3.5 weeks I was away: slates going on the garage and the plumbing finally all connected up in the house.
Both plumber and roofer had promised they would have completed by the time Steve and I were back on 30th June. Checked in with the roofer 2 weeks in and he hadn’t been able to start yet. No news from the plumber either. But 22nd June arrived, along with some bright blue skies, and the first photos of slates on the roof came through. And then by 29th June the roof was finished, and the toilets (and other plumbing) all connected.
The toilet connections were particularly key as on the 30th June Steve and I drove up with our first van load of furniture, and had our first night sleeping in the house in our proper bed. We were slightly camping – with no internal doors on, sockets not connected etc – but it was fabulous to be sleeping in a proper bed, with proper bedding and finally waking to our view.
